Illumination FL joined The Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce in 2019. So far it has been a wonderful experience. The opportunity to connect with the business community and help one another grow has been refreshing. As part of the Boca Chamber we get invited into some pretty interesting opportunities.
Recently, Illumination FL’s Business Development Manager, Justin Gaynor, (That’s me…writing in the third person is a little awkward) was invited to be a guest speaker at YEA!. YEA! – Young Entrepreneurs Academy – is a program of the Golden Bell Foundation. The topic of conversation was the importance and process of writing a formal vision and mission statement.
The story of how Timothy Salopek and his family first launched Illumination FL was discussed as well as our recent journey through the process of writing a formal vision and mission statement. The group of about 18 students then moved into a case study on The Hershey Company…and of course we had to do some product testing 🙂 mmm…chocolate.
The lesson ended with the class entering into breakout sessions where the groups were assigned a company name with a very brief description of its products, services and other pertinent information and then challenged to write a vision and mission statement, as a team, that was clear, concise and compelling. Oh, and they only got about 15 minutes…no pressure you know…lol…
They did AMAZING…I was so impressed by the way they worked together and came up with great results in such a limited amount of time!
We are certainly looking forward to connecting with and investing in our community more in 2020…so stay tuned.
